m1 is number 1 for the state
m1, Reed Construction (Qld)’s iconic twelve-storey residential building in Maroochydore was awarded winner of the Residential Buildings (High Rise over 3 storeys) $10 million - $50 million category at the 2006 State Master Builders Awards on Friday night at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
Still soaking up the accolades from winning the regional award for its category, Director of Reed Construction (Qld), Steve Cole said he and the m1 project team led by Mr David Hungerford were over the moon about winning the unexpected state award on the weekend.
Mr Cole said that some of the practices used in the m1 project were an Australian first in construction, with one being a Queensland invention that was only patented at the time of use.
“The systems that were used for m1 greatly improved efficiency in construction and more importantly, will continue to contribute to a sustainable environment in the area,” Mr Cole said.
“Many building companies are learning that it is important to focus on improving systems and using new initiatives. We are very pleased at Reed that we could trial many of these new systems and prove their success so quickly.”
One of the systems used was an innovative de-watering method put in place during the early construction phase. This enabled the project team to treat the high level of Acid Sulphates in the soil before reaching the main waterway which was a real win for the environment.
The m1 complex is now part of Reed’s $1 billion worth of residential, commercial and lifestyle-based property projects currently in the pipeline across Queensland.
m1 combines the convenience of living with the luxury of a 30-metre lap pool, gym, coffee shops, a top restaurant and spectacular coastal views. This development is designed to suit both the buyer and the investor and prices range from $600,000 to $1.4 million for the penthouse.
