Reed take construction North
One of Australia’s top 20 multi-unit builders*, Reed Construction (Qld), is heading north with the recent opening of a new office in South Townsville.
The expansion into Townville represents the recent growth of Reed Construction (Qld) with the business taking on some $150 million of work annually and diversifying its services to include project and design management.
Some of the projects Reed Construction (Qld) is undertaking in the north include the renovation of The Australian Hotel in Townsville, Mackay’s first 12 storey apartment building, Rivage and The Grand Hotel in Gladstone.
The new office, situated at 9 Palmer Street, is positioned strategically next to one of Reed Construction (Qld)’s redevelopment projects, the renovation of The Australian Hotel and will oversee projects from Cairns to Rockhampton.
Director of Reed Construction (Qld), Steve Cole, said he and his team were very excited about the expansion into North Queensland and is feeling confident about the new construction opportunities to come.
“Townsville is the major industrial and development hub in North Queensland and we can see great potential in being situated right in the heart of the thriving regional centre,” he said.
“The growing population in Townsville is not only giving us a great skills base to draw from but it is also attracting more national companies with vast knowledge and experience in the construction industry, including Wideform Formwork and Manly Concrete.”
Townsville’s Master Builders Regional Manager, Wayne Pelling, is pleased to have the new business join the region.
“Reed Construction’s successful track record and standard of work will be an asset to North Queensland’s building industry and we are looking forward to a long term association,” he said.
“With the much publicised trade and skilled labour shortages frustrating the industry it will actually be a bonus to have Reed Construction entering the North Queensland market and bringing with them skilled key trades organisations which will expand with the market’s demands.”
This year’s Masters Builder’s Sunshine Coast Regional Project of the Year was awarded to Reed Construction (Qld) for its spectacular $65 million Ramada International Resort.
Reed Construction (Qld)’s other award winning project, m1 in Duporth Avenue, Maroochydore, is an iconic 12 storey building and has been promoted as offering “architecture with adrenalin”, winning the Residential Buildings (high-rise over 3 storeys) $10 million - $50 million category.
