With sustainability and the issues of global warming and resource conservation quickly becoming high priority subjects at all levels of government and business, RCQ is working on playing its part.
Our internal sustainability committee called the RACE team (Reed Achieving Corporate Excellence) works hard in pursuit of ‘Green’ ratings, with a very clear purpose – to become sustainable industry leaders.
We recognise investors are increasingly aware of the importance of investing in environmentally and socially responsible projects. With this in mind, the RACE team is looking at ways to push the boundaries of innovation in order to develop cutting-edge design solutions and ever-greener buildings.
One of our tools is a corporate sustainability assessment questionnaire developed by the internationally acclaimed SAM Group.
The SAM Group (www.sam-group.com) is an independent asset management company specialising in sustainability investments. SAM carries out systematic research to identify successful companies that meet sustainability criteria.
With the first draft of the questionnaire complete, the RACE team is busy compiling real evidence that shows the company’s existing corporate sustainability performance.
The next step is to be benchmarked against the industry average and leading companies worldwide which will offer valuable insights into our strengths and weaknesses as we move towards becoming more sustainable.
We will then be given a ‘Green’ rating with recommendations for future assessments. In adopting the sustainability recommendations outlined by the SAM Group, we agree to develop and construct projects in a socially responsible manner, according to sound environmental and financial management practices.
